Oh, how I need you..

This is my anthem right now. I usually can't listen to songs over and over again, but this song has been on repeat for a few days now.. Seriously, take a listen. You won't be sorry you did.

I know. Another sunset series. I can't help myself, really. We are taking in all of the outdoors we can get since fall has set in quite suddenly it seems. While I'm welcoming sweaters and boots and crunchy leaves, I know that it means snow is just around the corner. Yikes.

Sienna: While we were out today Jeremy tripped and fell pretty good. Sienna instantly broke out into tears (I mean hysterics). So compassionate she is.
Coen: Showing off some pictures he took of his buddy. He may get that from me.
Houston: Smiling and happy. We are seeing this side of him more and more. Thank goodness.

What are you believing God for?

This weekend we are heading out for our annual youth retreat. My husband and I along with our amazing youth leaders are believing for young lives to be touched and transformed by the love of Jesus. We are believing that His presence will bring new life and freedom that will radically change a generation. We are believing for genuine pursuit, faith that speaks, and the birthing of a passion that extends beyond just this weekend in these young people. I would love for you to pray alongside us!

My boys and a sunset.

There is something about acting on a whim and doing the unplanned that breeds excitement. This weekend I did just that. I was able to have an evening with just my boys. This is rare. After running some not so thrilling errands we stared in awe at the sunset out of our windshield. I asked the boys if they wanted to get out and watch the sun go down. They hollered an adamant "Yes"! It was decided. I drove a little ways to a gravel patch at the side of a road that I had used for a photoshoot once. Not quite the perfect picturesque country sunset I'd favor, but I didn't want to waste time scooting us out of town. It turned out to be perfect after all, however. The boys enjoyed the rocks, seeing who could throw the farthest while we watched as the sun fell lower and the sky grew more and more grand in color. We stayed until the sky was almost black, with only a small sliver of pink remaining. It was good. So good.

Sienna's picture is out of focus. Coen was upset at something his sister said. Houston, however, has the best seat in the house with all of the glorious morning light shining in on him. The reality of breakfast. I kind of love how imperfect these shots are this week. We are working at getting back into routine around here! Our perfectly imperfect routine..

It is so neat to experience places you've lived only a few hours away from your whole life. Who knew such beauty existed in Alberta. I love the water. I would love to one day live somewhere with a lake close by! Jeremy thinks it would probably lose its appeal that way. He may be right. It is such a treat when we have opportunity to visit places like this!

New.

 photo grade2-1071.jpg photo grade2-1076.jpg photo grade2-1075.jpg

First Days. Fresh starts. New beginnings. Every day is new, really. Each morning we are offered a number of hours which have never been walked through before, with opportunity for change and growth. Yet some seasons can feel so monotonous. There is just something about reaching a new milestone that triggers that excitement of 'new.' I, however, want to wake each morning with that excitement, look ahead at the clean slate and purposefully write things worthwhile upon it!

***

I'm so  proud of my girl and how she handled her new season. Grade 2. She excitedly walked into it with hope and enthusiasm. I think it is going to be a great year. Although she did ask if she could stay home and spend time with us today lol.. Coen was so excited as he watched Sienna settle into her new class! I am praying that he feels that same excitement as he begins Kindergarten next week!

***

I keep forgetting to mention a HUGE thank you to the wonderful Danielle Burkleo for my awesome new layout.
Change is good!

Houston Seth.
To us, he is a testimony of God's faithfulness. Delivered to us, healthy and whole, after a difficult pregnancy and months of bed rest. In that uncertain time the Lord spoke to my husband the name Seth. It means 'appointed.' My precious boy. Appointed by the Lord. Full of purpose and promise.
Happy Birthday.
