Brides..

To the beautiful brides that have picked me, I say thank you!

I shot 2 weddings last week, and by the end of it, while I was beyond exhausted, I was left with such a surreal feeling. How did I end up here? I am blown away by the blessing it is to be a part of such special moments. When I bought my first DSLR 2 years ago I never set out to become a photographer. In fact, I still hesitate to even refer to myself as one. I have learnt much more than I ever anticipated I would, and I have so much more I want to learn! I am trying to take it all in and am thankful the Lord places my every step!

This girl. Smart, artistic, emotional, creative. I see much of myself in her, but I also see her potential to go far beyond anything I have ever accomplished. I wish I could crawl inside that sweet little head of hers and just observe. I have a feeling I would see the 'right brain' lit up with activity, creativity, and expression. At the same time, I'm sure the 'left brain' would be active as well considering her great skill with math and numbers and critical thinking. It will be interesting to see which side dominates as she grows. I hope to encourage both the creative and intellectual in her, but most of all I hope the spirit of God resounds the loudest within her and becomes the ultimate Lead in her life!

My sweet kids. I had to be really purposeful about getting their portraits this week. I had 2 weddings to shoot, so picking up my camera felt a little like work. I am so happy how these turned out though, and it shows that the combination of a few short minutes (even after a bath), some natural light, and cooperative kids are all it takes to capture these moments. The longer I do this project the more important it has become to me. These minutes captured for me and for my kids. I am thankful.

We are trying to enjoy every summery day. This summer has flown by and hasn't really felt much like summer at all, so we are trying to make up for it!

Sienna: Mimi got some new pigs. Not real pigs of course, but my kids loved them anyways.
Coen: He has been a bit emotional this week. Such a sensitive heart.
Houston: He loved the pigs too! Now if only I could get my kids to love real animals!

Dear Photoshop.. Thanks for taking this picture to the next level. Thanks to Creative Cloud, I can actually afford you now! Wish I could post a tutorial, but I just don't have time for that! There are so many out there already anyways. I removed everything with the clone stamp. So simple. I still use Lightroom for my bulk editing, but I am loving Photoshop too!
Dear Editing.. My pile is never ending. I feel a combination of overwhelmed and blown away thankful.
Dear Blog.. I miss coming here. I am hoping to be able to a bit more soon! There are so many moments I wish I had documented, and I am not good at playing catch up!
Dear Summer.. No more rain. Only sun. K, thanks.
Dear Energy.. Where, oh where have you gone? I need some sort of kick-start. Hoping our mini-getaway next week will suffice.
Dear Kids.. I love you to bits. I want to enjoy each and every moment with you before 2 of you are off to school in the fall.
Dear Husband... I am SO looking forward vacation time! We love having you around each and every minute. Let's just relax. The work around the house will wait for us!
Dear Readers.. Praying you are all having an enjoyable season. I miss connecting with you all, but I hope to catch up soon!

Goodbye, July...

Oh, August. I am going to savor every last drop of summer.. I asked the kids to make a list of all the things they would like to do this month. So, here it is. Our August bucket list:

- Bake cookies.
- Go for frozen yogurt.
- Play football.
- Have friends over.
- Fly a kite.
- Have a water fight.
- Try a new park.
- Play hopscotch.

I think that is a pretty doable list. We are actually going to go check one off right now. Hopscotch, here we come!!
